Celebrate Culture Days & World Rivers Day This Week-end!

Canadians are celebrating Culture Days this week-end, a time to participate in, and appreciate, all forms of arts and culture. Since 2009 artists, arts organizations and communities across the country have been taking this opportunity to invite folks to free activities "to discover their cultural spirit and passion".

Here's a photo of CEED Centre Seniors Group. They've been working on the Where The Light Gets In community collage project with me getting ready for a free workshop this Sunday, September 27 at The ACT from noon - 4pm. Where do you see the light? Doors, windows, vistas in nature, or people and places lighten our heart, mind and imagination. All materials supplied but you can bring down your 4x6 photo of anything that lets the light in and add it into the collage or make your own.

Also on Sunday, September 27, our WaterBody collective is organizing:

River Songs & Stories

Port Haney Wharf 6-8pm.

Bring your friends, family and a lawn chair as we celebrate the precious waterways with songs, stories and poems. I'll be joined by fellow artists in residence Robi Smith with her lantern installation and you can make some felt with Rebecca Fisher to add to the communty reading yurt. It's also the night of a lunar eclipse and the full moon is a supermoon so great for sky-gazing, too!

There are many other activities planned over this week-end in the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows area. You can find out more at Parks & Leisure Services this link: http://bit.ly/1iAYIZG

or go to the Culture Days website at: http://culturedays.ca/en

Have a great week-end!!
